Rendezvous 2021 registration is open - Instructions

We are excited to announce that it is now time to register to attend the physical rendezvous at Calvert Marina in Solomons, MD, 13-17 October. Al and Arleen Mauger (Arion), our Calvert Chairs, have developed an exciting program for those attending in person. Meanwhile, the virtual portion of the program, chaired by Anthony and Annette Baker (Magnolia) and streamed to everyone via Zoom, will present exciting and informative content. The entire schedule of events is available for viewing on the KC website, as is the online registration form. Note, the registration process is for MEMBERS wishing to attend the event in Solomons. If you are not a member, you can easily join on the home page. Those viewing via Zoom do not need to be a member or register.

Overall Schedule of Events: Our long-term Rendezvous Dockmaster, Randy Pickelmann has passed the baton to Mike Metz, who will dock boats in Rendezvous style beginning Monday afternoon and complete docking by Wednesday at noon. We will launch the rendezvous with a Pizza Party and newbie meet and greet Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday we will hear from Nigel Calder and Mario Vittone and get together to discuss our boats. On Friday we have a full slate of presenters followed by an evening at Calvert Museum. Saturday includes presentations by Steve Zimmerman and Bob Arrendondo, men’s and women’s roundtable discussions. Saturday night will be special, with a nautical themed costume party, dinner and dancing. We depart on Sunday as usual. Please see the draft full schedule on the KC website.

Meals: This year we will be serving dinner only so breakfast and lunch will be on your own. We will have coffee in the tent each morning. Dinner will be catered by Quality Street Kitchen and Catering and should be both healthy and tasty. Be sure and note if you request a vegetarian meal.

Boater First Aid/CPR: We will be offering Dr. Jim Brown’s First Aid/CPR class again this year. The class will be held on Wednesday so attendees will need to dock on Monday afternoon or Tuesday. Because you are going to be working indoors and in close quarters you will be required to be fully vaccinated for both Covid and the 2021 Flu virus. If you are interested in attending, check the box on the form and you will receive a separate registration at an added cost. If you are interested in attending this class, please respond by 15 August so we have time to plan.

Cost of Attendance and Payment: Cost is $135 per person for early registration and $150 after 15 August. Registration will close on 15 September. Payment will be via PayPal or by personal check mailed to:

Krogen Cruisers, Inc.

411 Walnut Street #15110

Green Cove Springs FL  32043

Covid Protocol: Please see our full plan on the KC website. Attendees are required to attest (by checking the box on the registration form) that they have been fully vaccinated for Covid or have been tested negative not earlier than 7 October 2021. Adjustments may be made to this plan should pandemic conditions change. Be sure and bring a mask.

Docking:  Docking will be accommodated beginning Monday noon and ending Wednesday noon. Those signed up for the CPR class on Wednesday will need to dock on Monday or Tuesday. As you register, please identify which day you intend to arrive. Note that this year we will be assigning each boat a time slot for docking in order to sequence your arrival. Using this approach we hope to make it easier on our volunteer docking team and reduce delays for arriving boats. We will do our best to accommodate your desired arrival day, based on your boat type. As we get closer to rendezvous day we will be sending out detailed docking instructions with your arrival time slots. Meanwhile, if this is your first rendezvous you may contact our dockmaster, Mike Metts (Tuscan Sun) via email for a detailed explanation of our dock plan.

Arriving by Car:

We have reserved a block of rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn, 13100 Dowell Road in Solomons, MD at the discounted group rate of $99 per night. To make your reservation, the web page address is:   Or you can call 410-326-0303 and use the group name “Krogen Cruisers Event” in order to receive the discount. The $99 a night rate is effective from October 12 through October 17.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  1. Newbie Mentors: We expect to see a number of folks attending for the first time. We will have a special orientation for them and then introductions at our first happy hour. Mentors will work with the new members to make them feel welcome and show them the ropes.

  2. Dockhands: we always need help docking the boats. If you are willing to help out, check this box and Mike Metts, our dockmaster, will contact you.

  3. Day hosts: Attendees coming by car are often left to fend for themselves during breaks in the action. We are asking for boat owners to volunteer to extend hospitality to folks without a boat. This means making them feel welcome to share your cockpit during breaks, etc. If you volunteer for this you will be assigned a couple who do not have a boat at the rendezvous.

  4. Rendezvous volunteers: As an all volunteer organization we will need a number of people to help with the daily activities; registration, coffee bar set-up, etc. If you are willing to help out, check this box and our Calvert chairs will contact you for a mutually agreeable assignment.

Elections: Our biennial elections are this year. The Nominating Committee, led by Bob Brown our current VP, is forming and looking for candidates. If you are interested in putting your name in the hat, please contact Bob directly at Positions to to voted on include President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.

Whichever Rendezvous you attend, be it in person at Calvert Marina or via Zoom wherever you might be, we hope to see you there. Our team has planned an exciting program and it will be great to get together again after such a difficult year.   Please feel free to contact me or any member of the Rendezvous team should you have any questions.
