Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Must I own a Kadey Krogen to be a member?

Absolutely not ! Members include owners, former owners, owners of other brands, and Wannabees - people who hope to own a Kadey Krogen someday.

  2. How will I fit in with Krogen Cruisers?

Many members live and cruise aboard their boats on a full-time or nearly full-time basis while others have yet to make the leap and are weekend and vacation cruisers. We all share a love for the water, our boats, and cruising. We USE our boats. You'll find us up and down the east coast, the west coast, the Bahamas and Caribbean, Canada and International waters. If there's water, you'll find Krogen Cruisers. You'll find an instant group of friends wherever you go, ready for a quick raft-up, a traveling partner, maintenance assist -- whatever you want.

  5. Must I live in the United States?

No – we have members in Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia.   Many members have no fixed address since they are full time cruisers!

  6. How can I meet other members?

Just look for the distinctive shape of Kadey Krogen trawlers as you cruise. Fly our Krogen Cruiser burgee - go to the Ship's Store to order one. Many members keep a member list sorted by boat name at the helm to aid in greeting members on the water. Attend one of the Rendezvous in the Chesapeake, New England or the Pacific Northwest. Participate in the Chat Forum. You'll find you're part of an immediate family.

  7. What is the annual Chesapeake Rendezvous?

Usually held in Solomons Maryland in early October, the Chesapeake Rendezvous is our largest annual gathering. Members come by boat, car, and airplane. Speakers, classes, catered and potluck meals, music and dancing are just some of the great events. A highlight is the famous Krogen Krawl where members open their boats to show off their latest project or their boat in general. It's the best place to see for yourself the wide range of the Kadey Krogen trawler universe in one place. As many as 60 boats and 135 members have attended in past years. You must be a member to attend. Other less formal gatherings take place regularly during the year - wherever two or more Krogen Cruisers get together! In the past few years there have been gatherings in Block Island, Maine, Annapolis, the Bahamas and more. We even have Super Bowl parties! The cost of the annual rendezvous and all other gatherings are paid for by those in attendance and are not included in your annual dues.

  8. What is the Chat Forum?

This is a great way to keep up with other members, ask questions about boat operations and maintenance, see who's cruising in your area -- you name it and you can ask the forum.  The forum is  KrogenCruisers@YahooGroups.com.  You must be a Krogen Cruisers member to join.   We do not use Twitter or Facebook for the group.

  9. Is Krogen Cruisers affiliated with Kadey Krogen Yachts?

No, we are an independent group organized and run by members. But we maintain a very close relationship with Kadey Krogen Yachts and they provide generous corporate sponsorship to the annual Chesapeake Rendezvous. They keep us informed of their plans and direction, and we provide regular feedback about boat design issues. They listen closely to owners, and all models reflect significant owner-input received over the years. www.KadeyKrogen.com is a great place to find out more information on new and previously-loved Kadey Krogen trawlers. They also have the vast majority of brokerage Kadey Krogens in the country. Stop here first if you are in the market!
